Bo Campbell, Attorney at Law

Bo focuses his practice on affordable housing, serving as general counsel to several South Carolina housing authorities and affordable housing developers.  He also has an active general business law practice, representing small and mid-market businesses in mergers and acquisitions, start-ups, contracting, and general litigation. An avid cyclist, Bo is also proud of the personal injury and wrongful death recoveries he has made on behalf of Upstate bicyclists and their families.

About

Bo Campbell grew up in Columbia and graduated from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1992.  He spent the first ten years of his legal career litigating serious products liability, medical malpractice, and industrial accident cases in Charleston, SC. After a sabbatical that took him to France for a year, Bo settled in Greenville and started his own practice. Shortly thereafter he joined the Horton Law Firm as a shareholder, where he practiced since 2003.  Bo started the Law Office of Bruce B. (Bo) Campbell, LLC, in September 2023.

Bo is admitted to practice in all courts in the State of South Carolina as well as the U.S. District Court and the U. S. Court of Appeals for the 4th Circuit. He is a member of the Greenville County and South Carolina Bar Associations and is certified as mediator by the South Carolina Bar.

Bo Embraces a Team Approach to Affordable Housing Development Work

Bo serves as general counsel to the Housing Authority of the City of Greenville, SC, Spartanburg Housing, Columbia Housing, and also advises other South Carolina Public Housing Authorities (PHAs) and their affiliates.  He represents the Boards of Commissioners and provides general governance advice, counsels staff with  HUD and SC FOIA compliance, contracting and procurement matters, and appears and advises in state and federal litigation matters.

As their general counsel Bo also serves as lead counsel on his PHA client’s various development efforts including HUD RAD conversions, FHA and conventional financings, 4% and 9% tax credit (LIHTC) transactions, and bond financings.

 

Bo also advises local and national for-profit and non-profit affordable housing developers, assisting in the acquisition, rehabilitation, and new construction of affordable and workforce housing.

Affordable Housing

Bo serves as general counsel to the Housing Authority of the City of Greenville, SC, Spartanburg Housing, Columbia Housing, and other South Carolina Public Housing Authorities (PHAs) and their affiliates. Bike Accidents

Early in his legal career Bo was trained in and litigated serious personal injury claims. As an avid cyclist, Bo continues to have the honor of representing bicyclists and their families when a cyclist is injured or killed as a result of the negligence of a careless driver.  He is particularly proud of the personal injury and wrongful death recoveries he has made on behalf of bicyclists and their families.

Mediation

Mediation is an increasingly important option to litigation in which the parties work together with a neutral mediator to reach an agreement. Mediation is now mandatory in most contested litigation matters in South Carolina and serves as an efficient method of resolving disputes.  Bo’s diverse legal experience makes him uniquely qualified to assist parties in the resolution of a wide variety of legal conflicts.
